Happy Autumn! We’ve finally arrived at our favorite season. Fall might not be your favorite season, but we makers are living the dream right now. Mornings are chilly, leaves are beginning to fall, and our hands are ready for making all the things! Fun fact: this fall marks my first year designing kits in collaboration with Lion Brand!

I can’t believe it’s already been a year! I couldn’t ask for more thorough and consistent communication and support from the LB team. Can you believe we’ve released 7 kits together? Currently, only 6 are available due to a discontinued line of yarn. That number might seem small, but for me it’s HUGE! My goal was to hopefully know this experience once. To have had this happen 7 times [with more to come], I couldn’t be more appreciative of Lion Brand or proud of myself! Thanks to all of you as well for finding my corner of the internet and coming back, supporting IPWF patterns and content, using my affiliate links [no pressure to use, but always appreciated], and HELLO if this is your first time here!

I know the blog and shop are bare as of this posting, BUT that will be changing very soon. For those of you who don’t know I’ve had a rollercoaster ride of a time navigating being online with various web-hosting platforms, alongside refining and improving my creative processes. As “tech savvy” and “well with words” as I perceived myself to be, blogging hasn’t been as easy [for me] as the Pinterest gurus had me convinced it would be! Long story short [because you’re here for a pattern], I’m still figuring it out but I’m wiser now!

One thing is for certain, this space will honor, promote, and cultivate peaceful preparation. I’m aligning my desires with my lifestyle and taking my time rebuilding this blog. As a mother of 4, all under the age of 8, this will help me be as consistent as possible and keep my focus on quality [and more FREE] content for all of YOU! If you’ve made it this far without skipping to the pattern, use code URMZNG in the shop to download a printable copy of this pattern 20% OFF! If you’re interested in a complete Melo Snood kit [pattern + yarn] you can purchase it, as well as any of my other kits directly from Lion Brand here.

Leah Gordon

Hi! I’m Leah, a wife, mother to 4 children, maker, designer, and all things in front and behind I Play With Fiber. From a young age, I considered myself creative and had big dreams of being a designer. I never imagined I would eventually be creating my fabrics by hand, blogging about this journey, or publishing patterns. I’ve been self-publishing since 2018 and began an ongoing partnership with Lion Brand Yarn to produce knit and crochet kits in 2021. Knitting and crocheting have restored my sense of independence and self-confidence. They remind me how capable I am of doing whatever I put my mind to accomplish. My design style blends simple shapes, eye-catching textures, and experimentation with color. My goal with I Play With Fiber is that each of you makes space for moments of mindfulness while crafting timeless pieces.
